Last night some friends from our ward invited us to go camping. We thought it sounded like a lot of fun, besides the whole sleeping over night being 8 months pregnant part.....so we joined them for the fun, but came home to sleep. The campsite was setup on Dutton Island which is by Atlantic Beach. We loved being out in nature where we weren't close by lights or traffic. It was only about a 20 minute drive from our house, and still close to stores and houses, but it felt really secluded. When we got there, Jayden and a few other men were getting the fire going, so Gavin and I went on a walk with a few other adults and kids. There was a pretty nature trail that led to a gorgeous view of the sunset over the intercoastal area. After we got back from our walk the fire was ready to go. We made hobo dinners with ground beef, onions, red potatoes, carrots, and cheddar cheese. They turned out to be delicious! Jayden put them together and cooked them for us, and he did a really good job. It took a while to get the coals and the fire going so we didn't end up eating until around 8:15 and everyone was starving! We were getting ready to make s'mores but we had to leave before we could. They lock the gate campsite so people can't get in and out after 7:45. There was a code to the gate, but for some reason it wasn't working. Another family left and couldn't get out, so a police officer had to come open up the gate, so we had to hurry and pack up our stuff fast so we could get out too! I made me a s'more in the microwave when we got home, not as good, but still tasty.
We are really glad we went and it was a lot of fun, although it was sometimes stressful with Gavin, because didn't understand why he couldn't run around when it was dark and by the fire, so he was being pretty difficult for a while. But overall he had a good time and we did too.
Gavin LOVED running around with the other kids there. Two of his friends from nursery, Calvin and Donny were there too.

Gavin and Jayden hanging out by the campfire
Gavin just wanted to sit on this log for a second
Our hobo dinners. They look kind of gross, but were delicious!
To buy us a little more time hanging out around the campfire without Gavin wanting to get down, we let him eat a hershey's bar......and he ate the whole thing in less than five minutes! We usually don't let him eat whole candy bars like that.....haha
