1 month

Gavin is now one month old. He is growing so much! It amazes me how different he looks each and every day. I am sure Gavin is over 10 pounds now. At his 3 week appointment he was 9 lbs 11 oz! Here is a comparison from on the way home from the hospital and at one month old. (The bottom picture makes him look a lot chubbier than he really is fyi)

Gavin Has the Hiccups

A Birth Video

My little brother Drew is very talented at film making. Check out the video he made for Gavin's birth. Thank you Drew! We love it!

Update

Life has gotten really busy lately, which means my blogging hasn't been as much as I would like. Here is an update on what has been going on in our lives the last few weeks.

Gavin is growing, growing, growing. It is amazing to see him change everyday. Gavin is now four weeks old. At 3 weeks, he weighed in at 9 lbs and 11 oz!!! We couldn't believe it. (Gavin was born at 8 lbs 6 oz) Gavin is doing great and we are having so much fun getting to know him

Jayden and I both started school again. This is my last semester and then I will graduate in May! Jayden has 3 semesters left until he graduates with his masters in Biomedical Engineering. Our weeks are very busy with school and with work. My mom comes and babysits Gavin 2 days a week while I am in school, we are so grateful for that!

This last weekend we went to the new Utah Museum of Natural History. We get in for free with our University of Utah student ID cards. We had a lot of fun and it is a great museum. We can't wait to take Gavin again when he gets older and can understand what is going on.

My recovery has gone really well and I feel back to my normal self ( except for the few pounds I still need to lose). I can't wait to start running again and to get back into shape. It has been really hard to not exercise since Gavin was born. I wish that I could jump right back into it. I know my body will take some time to get back into shape, but for just giving birth, I feel pretty good.
We are adjusting to living life on not enough sleep. Everyone warned us about this before Gavin was born. He is a pretty content baby, but he likes to keep us up at night. From someone who is used to getting 8 hours of sleep every night, the adjustment of only getting 4-6 hours is tiring to say the least!

I love being a mommy and Jayden loves being a daddy! We are having fun trying to figure it all out and we are just enjoying our busy life!

Love

It is still hard for me to believe how fast you can fall in love. Our hearts are full and we love our little guy.

I LOVE weekends. Here is a recap of our weekend and why it was so great:

We didn't have ANY obligations or commitments the whole weekend ( that hardly ever happens)

We caught up on much needed sleep

We wore pajamas all day long

We snuggled with our baby

We went on a date

We were lazy and didn't care that we relaxed all weekend long

We finished almost a whole season of How I Met Your Mother

We had a fun night with our friends Alyx & Spencer

Found out my best friend from high school got engaged. Congrats Sara & Spencer!

Took Gavin on his first walk

About our date: we decided to take Gavin on a date with us. We fed him right before we left and he slept the WHOLE entire time. He didn't even cry once, it was great! We went to Olive Garden for dinner and then to the dollar theater to see Real Steel. It was a lot of fun and we are so glad that Gavin could let us enjoy the evening.

I love catching Jayden fall asleep with Gavin, I think it is about the cutest thing in the world. The last couple weeks have been exhausting and Jayden doesn't usually show that he is tired that often, but I caught him asleep multiple times!

Gavin all bundled up for his first walk

Christmas 2011

I know this post is late, but things are a little busy around the Garfield household right now! I will try to get caught up on blogging ( since Gavin is taking a nap right now).

Christmas this year was the best Christmas of our lives. We brought Gavin home from the hospital on Christmas morning just in time for a day full of Christmas fun. We were discharged from the hospital at 10 am, so we had the whole day at home. First, my family came over to our apartment for Christmas brunch and for presents. After my family left, Jayden and I opened our presents from each other. Jayden's family came over and brought us Christmas dinner! It was a lot of fun to spend Christmas with our families and we are so grateful that they came to visit us ( and bring us food :) ) I wish I would have taken more pictures of our family and the events of the day. Christmas this year had a whole new meaning. Bringing home your newborn on Christmas day is a really special experience that I am glad we were able to have.

My presents from Jayden, he did good!

Look how handsome my boys are!
