Dutton Island, Campfire, and a Fun Friday Night

Last night some friends from our ward invited us to go camping. We thought it sounded like a lot of fun, besides the whole sleeping over night being 8 months pregnant part.....so we joined them for the fun, but came home to sleep. The campsite was setup on Dutton Island which is by Atlantic Beach. We loved being out in nature where we weren't close by lights or traffic. It was only about a 20 minute drive from our house, and still close to stores and houses, but it felt really secluded. When we got there, Jayden and a few other men were getting the fire going, so Gavin and I went on a walk with a few other adults and kids. There was a pretty nature trail that led to a gorgeous view of the sunset over the intercoastal area. After we got back from our walk the fire was ready to go. We made hobo dinners with ground beef, onions, red potatoes, carrots, and cheddar cheese. They turned out to be delicious! Jayden put them together and cooked them for us, and he did a really good job. It took a while to get the coals and the fire going so we didn't end up eating until around 8:15 and everyone was starving! We were getting ready to make s'mores but we had to leave before we could. They lock the gate campsite so people can't get in and out after 7:45. There was a code to the gate, but for some reason it wasn't working. Another family left and couldn't get out, so a police officer had to come open up the gate, so we had to hurry and pack up our stuff fast so we could get out too! I made me a s'more in the microwave when we got home, not as good, but still tasty.

We are really glad we went and it was a lot of fun, although it was sometimes stressful with Gavin, because didn't understand why he couldn't run around when it was dark and by the fire, so he was being pretty difficult for a while. But overall he had a good time and we did too.

Gavin LOVED running around with the other kids there. Two of his friends from nursery, Calvin and Donny were there too.

Gavin and Jayden hanging out by the campfire

Gavin just wanted to sit on this log for a second

Our hobo dinners. They look kind of gross, but were delicious!

To buy us a little more time hanging out around the campfire without Gavin wanting to get down, we let him eat a hershey's bar......and he ate the whole thing in less than five minutes! We usually don't let him eat whole candy bars like that.....haha

Gavin Videos

I have had quite a few family members and friends tell me they like when I post videos of Gavin, so here's another batch.

1. Gavin has been really into his puppy lately. He walks it around the house. (excuse the mess)
2. Gavin eating a yellow popsicle
3. Gavin fell asleep at dinner a few weeks ago. We let him sleep but had to wake him up to eat dinner. He did NOT want to wake up! It was so funny watching him.
4.Last weekend for the U vs. BYU game we taught Gavin how to say "GO UTES!"
5. Just a cute video of Gavin laughing

Taking Photos of Gavin // Showing the Bloopers //

I love taking photos of Gavin, but boy is it hard! Gavin won't sit still for more than half a second. I have to take what feels like a hundred pictures before I get a decent one. We do get a lot of good pictures, but there are a lot of pictures that don't turn out so well, but they are sure funny to look at. This morning Gavin was being such a ham for the camera, but not holding still enough. There was really good lighting in our family room, but I didn't want to turn my ISO up too high, so in order for the photos not to be blurry he had to hold still. We got a few that turned out really cute.

First for the cute ones....

Now here are the bloopers of the batch. They are pretty funny and I still like them because they say a lot about Gavin and his personality!

Refusing to look at the camera:

Wanting to get way too close to the camera:

Running towards the camera:

Not sure what's going on in this one. haha.

Not holding still:

Trying to grab the camera:

And just being a goofball:

Lily's Quilt/Decorating Her Nursery

I decided that I wanted to make a special quilt for Lily. I picked out the fabric a few months ago and have been working on it a lot lately. This last week I finished her quilt and I am so happy with how it turned out. It is nice to have her nursery (by nursery I mean her side of her room haha) completed. She will share a room with Gavin, but stay in our room until she is sleeping through the night. We are really excited how everything turned out.

My First Video/Gavin Playing in the Rain

Playingintherain from Chloe Garfield on Vimeo.

I put together a little video of Gavin playing in the rain this morning. I have never made a video before and I realize it is pretty shaky and not always in focus, but I am learning! It was really fun to edit and put together. I want to start taking more video and put together little videos of just our everyday adventures.
