5 months

Gavin is such a messy eater!

Gavin is 5 months now! Well 5 months and a week. Here are some new updates on Gavin.

Gavin is wearing his 9-12 month clothes and size 3 shoes. Gavin can now sit up on his own. He loves playing with his toys. Gavin is becoming more cuddly and attached. Gavin still DOES NOT have any teeth! Any day now! Gavin LOVES to eat. He loves sweet potatoes, carrots, peas, peaches, green beans, and prunes. He doesn't like bananas or apples. Gavin hates to sleep on his back (we put him to sleep on his back, but wake up in the morning to him on his side or stomach). Gavin is starting to move a lot more and his coordination is getting so much better! He can grab anything he wants now. He loves grabbing his feet and studying them.

Sick, Sick, Sick

If you are wondering why I have so much time to catch up on blogging today, it is because I am sick. Yesterday was one of the most miserable days that I can remember. On Monday night, Jayden, Gavin and I slept over at my parents house. I woke up around 5 am and felt really sick. I was nauseous and felt like I was going to throw up. It was the day of Drew's graduation. I was soon wondering how I was going to get through the day, but Drew only graduates from high school once, so I wanted to tough it out. I threw up once before we left for his graduation. I was pretty miserable on the car ride down to Orem, and walking in to the graduation. I was feeling ok once I sat down. Once graduation was over, we were on our way to the restaurant when I started feeling miserable again. We got to the restaurant and I knew that I wouldn't be able to eat anything. We had been sitting down for only a few minutes when I literally had to run to the bathroom ( barely making it) before I puked everywhere. I threw up once more before we left the restaurant and once in the trash can on the way out...which was pretty embarrassing. Once we finally got home, I fell asleep for a few hours. I was able to eat some chicken soup for dinner, but only to throw it all up a few hours later. Last night I was able to sleep for 13 hours and I feel much better this morning, even though I don't feel back to normal yet. I know what you are probably thinking, but no I am not pregnant (thank goodness), although it did give us a good scare. I am definitely not ready to be pregnant again! I caught some weird stomach bug from somewhere, and luckily Jayden and Gavin haven't gotten sick yet. I am so happy for Drew to have graduated from high school, and it was a great day for our family, but honestly, it was one of the most miserable days for me. I am glad that the day is over, and that I feel much better today.

This pretty much sums up how we felt yesterday. I think could tell that I wasn't feeling good yesterday.

Mini Fruit Tarts

I found this recipe from pinterest via Banner Boutique. It was really easy and they turned out great!

FYI: I used low-fat cream cheese and light Cool Whip to make it a little lower in fat. I used a regular size muffin tin. DO NOT press the dough down into the tin. When the dough cooks it will form to the shape that you want. I tried pressing them down the first time and they were too thin and got ruined.

Here is the recipe:

1 small package Pillsbury sugar cookie dough
1 8 oz package cream cheese, softened
1 large container cool whip
4 cups of any kind of fruit
Cook sugar cookie dough either as 1 large pizza, small cups or small cookies at 350- cooking time will depend on what type of cookie you are making (generally 6-7 minutes for small cookies, longer for one large cookie), do not over cook.  Whip softened cream cheese, then add in cool whip until nice and smooth.  Place in Ziploc bag, cut off tip, pipe frosting onto cookies.  Decorate with fruit.

My Birthday!

My birthday was great! Jayden took the day off of work just to spend the day with Gavin and me. We slept in, went to lunch at Sampan, went to Red Butte Garden, and then went to dinner with my family at Nuch's. Jayden had never been to Red Butte Garden before, so it was fun exploring the gardens. The weather was perfect and we had a great time. I got a lot of great birthday presents. From Jayden I got a new travel makeup case, new sheets for our bed, and an Iphone charger/player for my car. From my parents I got new sewing tools, a cutting mat, ruler, and rotary cutter. The Garfield family gave me a really cute shirt, and this awesome Book of Mormon study guide that I have wanted for a while now!

Jayden has had this fortune twice now. It reads " Behind every man, there are always" haha. We crack up every time we see it!

Gavin is now using high chairs! He is such a big boy

Mother's Day

I am a little behind on posting, because this month has been SO busy. This has been the busiest month of our married life. Between my graduation, my birthday, Jodi's birthday, celebrating 3 Mother's Day's, Memorial Day, my Grandparent's visiting, and Drew's graduation, we are pretty exhausted. I have so much to blog about this month!

This year I celebrated my first Mother's Day. It was a great weekend! Jayden surprised me by having Ryan and Jodi watch Gavin for a night, so we could have our own celebration and date night. We met up with Ryan and Jodi at the zoo (which I already posted about) after the zoo, Gavin was on his way. Jayden and I went to dinner at Tucano's. They had a Mother's Day dinner special where in addition to the Tucano's dinner, you got Prime Rib, Filet Mingion, and Garlic Lime Shrimp. For desert they gave you a hand dipped truffle and all of the women got a flower on their way out. After dinner, we went to see the Avengers, which was really good! It was a great night. Jayden couldn't wait until Sunday to give me my Mother's Day present, so he gave it to me at the beginning of our date that night. Jayden had a necklace personalized for Mother's Day. It has the 3 of our birthstones and says You & Me +1. I love it, and wear it almost everyday! We celebrated Mother's Day with the Garfield's ( Marsh side) the weekend before for the annual Mother's Day party (which I will post pictures from later). We went to my family's house on Sunday for Mother's Day. I was in charge of making dessert, which turned out amazing! I wanted to make a low-fat dessert, but that wasn't lacking in taste. I used a few different recipes for ideas, and made up my own version. It is a low-fat Lemon Triple Berry Trifle. I will post the recipe soon! We had a fun bbq outside, and had fun enjoying the warm weather!

The beautiful necklace that Jayden got me!

Gavin's First Time Swimming

After Jayden got home from work today, it was still 90+ degrees out! We decided it would be fun to take Gavin on his first swim. The water wasn't cold at all and it felt great! Gavin really liked being in the water. He didn't cry at all and just enjoyed floating in his life jacket. We will definitely be spending a lot of time in the pool this summer!
